Hey All,

This one's most likely for Phil! Any ideas which Cresta axles fit the CF? PC, PB, etc?

Thanks,

PA, PB and PC Cresta differential will only fit the lightweight Bedford axle with smaller hub bearings (usually 7/37 ratio).

Apparently the differential side gears can be swapped for CF side gears for the heavier Bedford axle but I've not tried it myself.

FD/FE Ventora differential is similar but the extended pinion nose means the propellor shaft will have to be shortened.

Any idea about just the crown and pinion of a cresta pa,pb,pc fitting into a Salisbury diff ??
The 5.22:1 ratio on my 280 is starting to irritate me...😓😓

Cresta differential is tiny compared to the Salisbury differential!

I haven't got a bedford or a cresta diff to compare, just trying to gather as much info about it before I commit to buy one on fleebay....
From a previous thread I have seen that someone put a L/R crown and pinion on a 8ha 350 diff..
Would that be a way to go Phil?
C/P on the 8ha and 5ha the same?
He was trying to reduce his 5.22:1 ratio(same as mine) so educated guess tells me they are.🤷‍♂️
The problem I have is, my van is my daily drive so I'm planning on doing it all in one day/weekend if need be.
Tia..

I don't know: I've only ever swapped gears in Salisbury axles using GM parts so I've no experience of cog swapping from other Dana 60 axles.

I think the 5HA standard Salisbury axle for CFs is the difficult one for sourcing different crownwheel and pinion, the heavier 4-pinion 8HA for Code 035 140" wheelbase being more like the Land Rover type.

Hi Phil, just realised I never pressed send trying to respond the other day🤦‍♂️...
Anyhow.... do you know if the if there is a difference between the 2 280 and 360 half shafts. Diameter, number or splines or even lengths?
Sorry for all the daft questions, I'm just trying to narrow it down before I go and but a l/r diff

Differential side gears are the same for all CF Salisbury axles, half shaft splines likewise.

340/350 half shafts (for fully floating rear hubs) won't fit 270/280 models or 250 1300kg payload variant (semi-floating rear hubs).

I've no idea what the dimensions are for either type.

Ok, Thanks Phil 👍
I feel I'm getting somewhere now, so on the thread I mentioned before...haven't worked out how to just quote the chat🙄.... the guy says
(I have successfully installed 3,54 in my 78' CF350 camper van. I had to change the spider gears from bedford diff centre to land rover diff centre. Land rover has 24 spline and bedford 22 spline axles. 3,54 carrier is also differnet so i had to use land rover carrier.)

The 3.54 ratio on the L/R axles only came with 10 or 23 splines on the diffs so I'm guessing he miss counted🤷‍♂️...

It might take a bit more than a day to do(might need to order different size bearings and seals) but I'm going to give this a bash, I think it will work.🤞

Will let you guys know either way 👌
