If I put a fuel additive into my old girl 2.3 slant will it damage the head if it's been converted to run on unleaded? I don't actually know if it has been done but was told it had when I bought the motorhome but then people will say anything to sell you something and I don't have any proof of any headwork being done. Thanks Webby

She's still in one piece at the moment and I've not used any additive, you never know the guy that sold it may be honest and the heads already been converted!!

bought mine (Pioneer Camper) in 2000 put additive in about three times clock now at 135K some recession of the valve seat on the No3 cylinder but nothing that can't be sorted by different valve adjustment screw , wether its got hardened valve seats in mine I've no idea either , I just avoid thrashing it down any motorways at full throttle and settle for the 'A' roads at a leisurely pace .

Lead replacement additive won't hurt an engine but it can help especially if an engine works hard for its living.

However, additive can only slow down valve seat recession which happened anyway with the Vauxhall OHC engine when leaded petrol was the only choice.

Not thrashing the engine can be almost as effective in terms of service life, as John has found. :)
