For best ground (earth) avoid using any seat base mounting points because they are prone to corrosion especially between the base and floor panel.

Usually best to make a fresh ground point in the floor panel, or pass earth wire through a grommet in the floor and attach the terminal to the chassis longitudinal member or nearest underbody brace.

If the existing earth lead is too short to move it then add an extension from the seat base attachment using a longer bolt (5/16-inch UNF thread): terminals fastened together should be fine as long as the bolt is tight.

Ground point must be cleaned to bright metal; petroleum jelly or waterproofing wax (Waxoyl or similar) generously smeared over the terminal and attachment will deter corrosion.
