I was trying to work out a replacement pulley for the power steer pump as I don't want power steering (the big pulley on the bottom left) and then I thought, why not pull the guts out of it and just leave it as a pulley.

So I pulled it apart to try to remove the vanes but couldn't get that far, so I reassembled it and just removed the pressure valve and springs. Now it just circulates oil within itself and cant make any pressure. I half filled it with oil and sealed up the pipes. It shouldn't make any heat as there is no pressure, let's see how long it lasts...………………………. :brew: . This way it uses a standard serpentine belt, easy to get another when the time comes. The bearing in the pump is just one bush, so as long as it's wet with oil it should be ok.

Latest update, have fitted new dash, not finished by any means, but screwed into place. All fully operational and sticking to the idea that the computers now running the Bedford still think they are in a Holden.

New (old Holden) dash

It will be coming out again to fit a few more brackets and to prune more wires and fit end caps to tidy it up.

The new dash looks good: a substantial improvement on the CF binnacle too. :thumb:

Woohoo the new flexi silicone intake hose arrived from China on Saturday, I can now mount the air cleaner.

Under the bonnet is getting a lot more "busy". What looks like rust on the underside of the bonnet is Fisholine oil I put on it when I first bought the van, still sticky after 4 years.

Air cleaner mounted, with air temp sensor and "hot wire" air flow meter.

Screen washer bottle and pump from Holden, also in top of heater is the heater motor resistor pack. Now has 4 fan speeds.

Fitted coolant expansion bottle from a Toyota Corolla, attached to the bottom of the bonnet hinge.

Tidied up the foot well wiring.

Took the wife for a burn around the block, no window winder on her side or engine cover, truck was like a sauna, over 30 degrees C outside, more like 50 inside!
