We bought our camper on gumtree 2 years ago from Skegness. JULY 2011
Decided on this model, because of it's internal layout and external look.
Here's our camper before the resto.
First pics were taken by previous owner, inside was a mess with white emulsion and wood grain effect paint. :o

After a one way train journey down and a trouble free drive home to Fife ;) , we decided what to do.
So first job was to check all running gear and check out the water proofing of the roof.
Then decided to tidy up inside.
Will try to post more later as new to this blogging malarkey.

I say it looks very clean inside and outside comparing to my 86 CF250 Travelhome S. :D :D
There must be an issues with leaks on all the motorhome Bedfords. When I got mine she had a bad leak where the flue was coming out of the top. Nothing a bit of TLC couldn’t fix. :ugeek:
Did the Carver Cascade come already installed or did you do it yourself
Whats her name! If she all the way from Skegness.. Lochnessy would be a great name however I expect she´s has another much loved name.
See you around…
Steve :D

Hi Steve, no the carver boiler was already fitted.
But has now been upgraded to version with 240v as well as gas, so hot water at is on tap at caravan sites without using gas. ;) £70 from caravan breakers.

Another upgrade that has made a difference is a free flow stainless steel exhaust system that goes out the side in front of rear wheel.
This was after starting up the van after the winter previous where 2 of the cylinders did not fire up until the exhaust was filled with unburnt fuel which the exploded the silencers parted company.
More of the power in engine gets out, especially on uphill roads without having to gear down :D .

Another upgrade that I hope is going to make a difference is in place of the sky light, is one called Fantastic Fan as fitted in RV's.
Another Ebay buy for £30+ a good clean up and is ready for fitting.

Another one was bought from Ebay was a set of mirrors from Ford 1960/70's F250 American pick up truck.

Skylight fan is a great idea: should be good for drying out the interior when the van hasn't been used for a bit and everything gets damp even when the body is watertight.

Bought a 1 owner chassis / cab for less than £300 on Ebay at Melrose as a donor .
Compleat with good engine and 4sp zf gearbox.

This was the pic on Ebay and it looked like rust all over but it was on headlight as well. So I knew it was just mould.

This was the main reason it was bought for. ;)

And what was left

Sorry to all beddy lovers

And I got £80 for scrap, a bit of a result.

I will have a few good parts to sell on later on

N/S compleat wing rocker panel
O/S rocker
V.good twin passenger seat and frame, with Drivers seat slight damage not bad. ( black vinyl )
Seat belts , v.nice static ones with chrome parts and fitting clips etc
X2 cab rear windows & rubbers ideal for van side windows
X2 Cf2's mirrors in good condition as in pic above
Maybe bonnet from red donor, perfect apart from slight rust front edge

Hi, Tor

Really like the F250 American Wing mirror!! Nice find…

You have giving me a great idea on the fan sky light. Looked around on line and found these fan-tastic vents not that cheap. So I going to have a go at modifying my one Sky Light with a 12V fan. It probably want be as good as the Fan-tastic but as Phil points out it’s a great way to keep the damp air circulating. Make a good blog as well. :ugeek:

Maybe something like this!
All the best.
Steve :D :D

Much respect Tor: no mean undertaking rebuilding the A posts and screen surround!

Donor must have had very little rot in it by the look of things. One thing about 350 chassis cabs: usually least rot of all models and as spares/repair just about the cheapest model on the market at present.

I take it that you've checked the door alignment on the rebuilt A post ... :)
