Well what can I say there’s more rust than there is decent metal not something I would ever dream of taking on good luck you’ll need it.

It's got new metal in it :) yay :)

Because every time I opened the side door the body side flexed, ( I say 'flexed', what I mean is 'came away with the door' :( ) I decided that was going to be the starting point, I cut away most of the bottom of the 'C' pillar, but not too much, and claned up the area ready to weld.

Here's the pillar with the really bad crud cut away...

And here it is with new metal in... not a great patch of welding I know, but it is solid.

I also repaired some of the outer section and door sill . . . I really had no idea what it was supposed to look like so I just went from what was there and guessed... The actual door step piece had five bends in it ...was very fiddly some was done with my metal folder but the little step in it was done with a hammer and a bolster :D

I'm assuming my metal working and welding skills will improve as I go on :D :D :D

There’s nowt wrong with that just make sure you clean the welds up properly essecially if there is any blooming or the paint will not adhere to it keep up the good work.

so had another bit of a poke around, concentrating on the top of the B pillars and the roof, it's not good.

Drivers side

Passenger side

I concentrated on the drivers side as this was the worse area, I had to grind off the seatbelt bolt, and the strengthening panl there came away with very little effort leaving this . . .

The roof strenthening beam came away pretty easily too...

some bracing is needed before I cut anymore away I think :/

Cheers mate :D that'll buy a Damn Fine Coffee or two :D ( i'm pretty much teetotal these days but i might be tempted if and when I finish this weldathon )

Laid up sick with a massively painful chest infection at the moment so nothing has been done to the van, but I'll be getting out there the moment I'm better :)

Well.... I have a diagnosis, for my chest pain not the CF :) Because of th severe coughing brought on by a chest infection, I have developed 'Costochondritis', an inflammation of the chest wall and cartilage, which causes immense pain whilst moving, working, breathing etc. and coughing ...jeez coughing is painful, and I try not to sneeze because that feels like my chest is exploding :( which is considerably more difficult whilst having a chest infection :( ...
the cure for this? NOT moving very much at all, whilst taking regular pain medication until it stops being inflamed, and it can last for 6-8 weeks ... this is not a very good start to the year :( oh and i'm also on antibiotics to try and shift my chest infection/flu whatever it is... so rest time for me, but not bed rest, because that is also very painful :(

Work on the CF will resume sometime in February or hopefully sooner :)
