Ethanol E5 and E10

Ethanol in the petrol , currently can be upto 5 percent known as E5 , but EU legislation is allowing it to rise to 10 percent E10, what effect if any does this have on our older engines , especially those who have non hardened valve seats .

In terms of valve seat damage probably little measurable change.

Compression ratio is too low for ethanol content to affect ignition timing.

Keep adding your favourite lead replacement additive. :)
