Where to ask if you're not sure of the make/model of your special body (motor home, bus, ambulance etc.).
A picture or three can help.

ambulance?

My cf is a plain panel van, with a window in each side behind the front row, like a crew van. If noticed in certain light that you can make out the word ambulance on the front doors. It has had some kind of lift in the back at some stage as bracket and electrics are still there. Does anyone know what it could have been used for in the past? The body is low roof swb. Any help would be appreciated

The van could have been converted into a sitting case ambulance ('welfare' or 'social services' bus) by e.g., Dormobile or Walker, or could have been one of the minibus models, e.g. Dormobile Utilabus, altered by a specialist in wheelchair adaptations.

You may find fittings in the rear floor for wheelchair clamps, either as separate plates or as slotted guides for T-bar type clamps.

Is there any way I could find out? Iv looked for a conversion tag but found nothing so far. It has straps riveted to the floor by the back doors and some kind of seat runners inside

Some photos, exterior and interior, would be a great help because style of windows, seats and trim often can be clues.

Also look for signs of name decals under the paint on the back doors and, for Dormobile, on the front wings at about the same height as the leading edge of the bonnet, maybe with narrow band striping along the whole body length as well.

Having a few problems uploading pics at the moment as the files are too big, can't even find a pic of a similar one. It's got a full blue/grey roof lining and had Brown vinyl lining in the back. It said ambulance faintly on the front doors too but can't find anything else

Said pics -

Wheelchair transport by the look of it, with maybe fold-down seats at the rear.

The rails for wheelchair clamps set in the floor ought to have either U-channel ramps to hook on the back or some signs of a small tail lift being fitted originally (e.g. support plates and, or, mounting holes in the rear floor.

Could be a Dormobile, Hawson, Walker or other special conversion done as a one-off for, e.g. a school or care facility, or may have been converted by a specialist in special needs adaptations (e.g. Gowrings).
