Hi y'all

My current engine is a 2l CIH on a ZF 5 speed box. Originally, (from the SPI plate details) he had a 2.3 diesel as original. I've been advised that a 2.4 Fronterra lump would slot straight into the existing gearbox. The question is; will any CIH engine fit given the current configuration?

I don't wanted to up-gun the whole set-up, I'm thinking of adding a bigger engine so that the engine doesn't sound as stressed

I'm aware of other similar mods, so any info would be welcome

CIH carburettor and injection engines from car models usually need more room on the intake side than what's available in the CF engine bay.

i considered this myself. it might JUST fit from memory, but with some shifiting of the engine mounts to allow the engine to sit further over towards the passenger side to allow for the larger inlet plenum on the 2.4

A thought: check the SPI plate for a 3-figure code starting 9** indicating non-standard axle ratio, e.g. Code 912 for 8/37 (4.625:1) instead of standard 9/37 (4.111:1).

SPI plate should be attached to the passenger side door frame, lock side, for /60 chassis cab model.

Also check the ZF transmission ID plate for 5th gear (gang) ratio; normally 1:1 when 23D fitted, 0.8:1 for 1979cc CIH engine.
